General Conditions & Privacy
The terms on which TrueBeat provides its services, and how it handles your data.
Last updated: October 2026
Part A · 01Scope of these conditions
These General Conditions apply to every inspection, diagnosis and cleaning service TrueBeat provides, and to the use of this website. By submitting a watch for inspection, or by signing the intake record at handover, the client accepts these conditions. Where a signed intake record and these conditions differ, the signed record prevails for that inspection.
Part A · 02What we do, and what we do not do
TrueBeat examines and documents watches. It provides:
- Diagnosis and bracelet cleaning — a timegrapher reading of running condition and ultrasonic cleaning of the bracelet, for any fine Swiss watch.
- Standard authentication (Level I) — forensic examination of a Rolex watch: dial, hands, bezel and case, reference and serial validation, lume under UV, and inspection for non-original parts.
- Master authentication (Level II) — Level I plus opening of the caseback to identify and verify the calibre, and full timing analysis.
TrueBeat does not repair, service, adjust, regulate, polish or restore watches; does not test water resistance; gives no valuation, appraisal or advice on title or provenance; and never buys, sells or brokers watches. Authentication is offered for Rolex only.
TrueBeat works for the owner of the watch. It inspects watches the client already owns, typically before a sale or after a purchase, and does not attend, mediate or take part in private sales, buyer–seller meetings or any transaction. Any sale is concluded solely between the client and the other party.
Part A · 03An opinion, not a guarantee
An authentication is a professional opinion, formed on the evidence observable using TrueBeat's instruments and methods, on a specific watch, on the date of inspection. It is not a guarantee, a warranty, or insurance against a watch proving inauthentic.
No authentication method is infallible. Counterfeit production evolves continuously, and a component may be undetectable by current methods, or a subsequent examiner may reach a different conclusion on the same watch. A differing opinion by another party does not in itself constitute an error by TrueBeat.
Each report is valid solely for the individual watch identified by serial number, in the condition presented on the date of inspection. It does not extend to any later modification, part substitution or servicing. Reports are addressed to the client alone; no third party may rely on them. The client may show a report to a prospective buyer or dealer, but doing so creates no contractual relationship with, and no duty owed by TrueBeat to, that person.
Part A · 04Pre-existing condition
Each watch is accepted in the condition recorded on the intake record at handover. TrueBeat is not responsible for wear, faults, weakness or damage present before handover, whether or not it was visible or recorded at intake. Photographs taken at handover form part of the record.
Part A · 05Cleaning and caseback opening
Ultrasonic cleaning is applied to the bracelet or strap only, never to the case or the movement. It can reveal or accelerate pre-existing weakness in worn pins, stretched links, loose plating, aftermarket parts or previous repairs. The client accepts this risk.
Opening the caseback for a Master authentication necessarily breaks the factory water-resistance seal. Water resistance is not tested or restored by TrueBeat, and must be re-tested and certified by a watchmaker before the watch is exposed to water or moisture.
Part A · 06Custody, and limitation of liability
While a watch is in TrueBeat's custody, TrueBeat's liability for its loss, theft or damage is limited to the fee paid for the service concerned. The watch is not separately insured by TrueBeat and is held at the client's risk.
TrueBeat's total liability under any service is limited to the fee paid for that service. TrueBeat accepts no liability for the purchase or resale price of a watch, for consequential or indirect loss, or for claims brought by third parties. Nothing in these conditions excludes or limits liability for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be limited under Swiss law.
Part A · 07Ownership, payment and collection
The client warrants that they own the watch or are authorised by the owner to submit it. Serial numbers may be checked against stolen-watch registers. Fees are due on completion unless agreed otherwise. A watch must be collected within 30 days of notification that the service is complete; after that period storage is at the client's risk.
Part A · 08Governing law
These conditions are governed by Swiss law. The place of jurisdiction is Meilen, canton of Zurich.
Part B · PrivacyHow we handle your data
TrueBeat processes personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). This notice explains what is collected and why.
What we collect
- When you contact us — the name, email, phone number and message content you provide by email, WhatsApp or the booking form, used only to answer your enquiry and arrange a service.
- When you use a service — the details on the intake record (your name and contact details, and the watch's make, model, serial and condition), kept as the record of the inspection.
- When you visit this website — anonymous usage statistics via Google Analytics (pages viewed, approximate region, device type), used to understand how the site is used. This relies on cookies set by Google.
Why, and on what basis
Contact and service data is processed to provide the service you requested and to keep a record of it, including as evidence in the event of a dispute. Website statistics are processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in maintaining and improving the site.

Inspection records are retained for as long as necessary to document the service and meet legal obligations. Enquiry messages are kept only as long as needed to deal with the enquiry.
Your rights
Under the FADP you may request access to the personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to certain processing. To exercise any of these, email contact@truebeat.ch.
